Senior Environmental Health & Safety ConsultantIndustrial Hygiene – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing & Life SciencesTriumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Consultant specializing in industrial hygiene for our Life Sciences team.This highly motivated individual will provide guidance on Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) regulations and best practices to ensure workplace compliance and risk mitigation. This role involves staying up to date with regulatory requirements, analyzing data to improve safety performance, and advising clients on sustainable and compliant operational practices. In addition, this individual will design and lead industrial hygiene projects, as well as mentor other EHS Consultants in the practice of industrial hygiene activities.Triumvirate provides leading institutions in the higher education, life sciences, healthcare, and industrial sectors with diverse services and advice to assist them with compliance management. This role is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing clients onsite.Essential ResponsibilitiesEvaluate novel compounds and well-evaluated hazards for occupational exposure risks, applying the occupational exposure banding (OEB) process to classify hazard levels and determine appropriate controls.Develop and implement industrial hygiene sampling plans autonomously, selecting appropriate methodologies (NIOSH, OSHA, ACGIH) based on direct observation of pharmaceutical manufacturing and life sciences processes.Analyze sampling data and independently make recommendations for engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment based on findings.Measure occupational and environmental hazards, such as noise and ergonomics, using calibrated scientific equipment and/or collecting samples of dust, vapors, or gases according to defined operating procedures.Assess the effectiveness of engineering control systems, including fume hoods, containment enclosures, and local exhaust ventilation systems, in pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.Conduct workplace safety inspections evaluating the use of personal protective equipment, such as respirators, protective eyewear, and other required PPE appropriate to pharmaceutical manufacturing environments, in accordance with applicable regulations.Identify potential physical and health hazards, such as toxic vapors, mold, mildew, and explosive gas-air mixtures, and implement appropriate control measures, such as adjustments to ventilation systems.Investigate accidents and injuries, identifying root causes and recommending remedial actions.Communicate with client personnel regarding workplace safety issues, recommending corrective actions.Assist in the development of occupational health and safety systems, including drafting or updating policies, procedures, and manuals specific to pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.Facilitate and document Job Hazard Analyses, evaluating risk and prioritizing Industrial Hygiene Assessments accordingly.Basic Requirements4–5 years of hands-on industrial hygiene experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or life sciences settings.Demonstrated experience with making recommendations on appropriate controls required to reduce exposure potential in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.Proven ability to develop and execute industrial hygiene sampling plans independently, with the confidence to make autonomous recommendations based on direct process observation.Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety, or a related scientific field.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to remain calm and effective in dynamic, high-stakes environments.Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.Preferred RequirementsPrior experience as a professional advisor or consultant to third-party clients.Familiarity with cGMP environments and pharmaceutical manufacturing quality standards.Completed two or more industry-recognized trainings (OSHA 10 or 30, ABSA, HAZWOPER, DOT/IATA HAZMAT Transportation).Active membership in at least one national professional safety organization, including local chapters.#LI-Onsite #LI-JB1Besides Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, we contribute to a 401k, offer a generous tuition reimbursement program, TONS of safety training for some positions with opportunities for external trainings and certifications, Mentorship & Career Succession Planning, Relocation Opportunities, Auto/Home insurance discounts, pet assistance discount plans, discounted movie passes & more!
